I’d like to get some feedback on pave designed rings. I love the look, but am worried about the durability. I heard that the stones fall out constantly. If you own a pave ring, how many times have you had to repair it?
Thanks!

I don’t think its true that pave set diamond rings have diamonds falling out of them all the time. If they are well made items, by professional craftsmen, then you’ll have years of enjoyment out of them, Ultimately, I guess the more diamonds in a ring, the more chance there is of a diamond falling out. If it does, don’t worry too much, as pave set diamonds are incredibly small and therefore inexpensive. But make sure you don’t lose the centre (probably much larger) centre diamond. Also, if the pave set ring is made in platinum, then you shouldn’t have any problem.
My sister’s engagement ring is pave. it is perfect for her as she has a desk job.
If you do a lot with your hands I would suggest a more stable setting.
I don’t think the pave setting is a problem as long as the quality is there to back it.
I like the look of pave, but have a couple minimal concerns. One being that pave can be quite uncomfortable if it rubs against the skin, so you might want to avoid designs where the pave goes down the shoulders of the band. My second very small concern is that pave is highly trendy right now and this trend will come to an end and the pave style engagement ring will date a bride to this period of time.
And pave isn’t right for everyone. As a general rule, the rougher you are on your hands the less stones you should have on your ring.
With the above said, I wouldn’t hesitate to get pave at all if that’s what you want.
I have a micro pave engagement ring and wedding band. I’ve been wearing the engagement ring every day since July 12, 2008. I’ve not had a single problem with stones falling out of it. I get the ring cleaned every 6 months and they check the stones. None of them have even been lose. I really love the design, it’s very delicate and it’s made well.
It depends on how you treat your ring. Pave does typically fall out over time. But the harder you are on your jewelry, the faster your ring will need maintenance. It’s a good idea to bring your diamond ring in for maintenance once a year. Pave diamonds can be easily replaced and not too expensive. Try to store your engagement ring separately. Don’t wear it when cooking, gardening and working out. Take it off when you take a show and moisturize yourself. Keep the ring on a ring stand as well in your kitchen and your bedroom. Ringstands can cost you about $35.00. It’s worth it so that you do not lose your ring and protect the little side diamonds as much as you can.
Good Luck!
I am glad you asked this question as I am also considering a pave ring. So as not to add to what has already been said, all I can say is that I was told they are tricky to resize.
Pave settings are actually very safe and secure. Since the diamonds aren’t elevated, there is less chance of damage or loss. You really want to find a source that has a great reputation and excellence in craftsmanship.
